11月 - 帶了點倦怠的日子

It's a blue blue Monday.

Things are a little dull in November, and it is hard to say why. The new office is going to be ready next week, supposely. The flight to HK is scheduled and firm, along with translations and meeting with Alfred. But it probably has something to do with the weather in Shanghai, being rather gloomy recently.

Some things happened in the past week. FreeBSD 6.0 was released. Some friends and I went to see 紅樓夢 by 雲門舞集 last Friday. It was a touching dance. Only some of the elements were extracted from the book and performed, but the way they perform it, they created a strange and glowing work very much unlike the impression I had of the book. The characters in the book were realistic with long and elegant lines of dialogues, but in this dance, 林懷民 transformed all these into a very fairy-tale like, be it the monk or the young man or his father and mother, last but not least the 12 girls that surrounded the young man. The final scene where the dancers threw a huge white cloth over the stage and created a dazzling presentation of a sea of white cloud. As the monk dressed in red turned up in the far right corner, the scene created the most mythical effect I have ever seen.

I cannot show you the pictures in the performance, BUT much to my annoyance, people here (well, some people) have no respect for the performers and used FLASHLIGHTS! The shooting just kept going on in the first half of the dance and staff were forced to hold up boards that said "請勿攝影". It just seem plain idiotic to use flashlights in such a dark and big performace stage. Nothing the idiots shoot will turn up in the pictures properly, doing nothing and yet ruining the mood for others.
