Dreaming In Code Book Review

The Big Picture - Joel on Software

This is a rather contradictory entry from Joel's last entry regarding the book. But due to this contradiction, it seems even more lurking than ever.

Often in our team, people come up with grand ideas without actually laying out specific designs. To quote Joel "Number one, you fell for that old overconfidence trick of your mind. 'Oh, yeah, we totally know how to do this! It’s all totally clear to us. No need to spec it out. Just write the code.'" I have just heard it far too often. Is it a miracle that we ever survived and start to have billing customers? What is wrong? Or is it ever wrong?

I must get this book for a read.
